Step by Step is a gold puzzle in Orpheus Ascending, part of the Road to Elysium expansion for The Talos Principle 2. It is only available after completing the seventeen main puzzles.

Overview

A small antechamber contains two Connectors and windows to the main room. The main room itself is blocked off on both sides by Purple barriers and Blue doors. On each side of the main room is a mechanism composed of a Receiver that controls its side's Blue door, and an Emitter of the opposing color. A Switch can be used to block off the Receiver and open up the Emitter.

A set of stairs lead to the Omega Fragment, but four Blue doors block the way. Each door is controlled by a Receiver that is pre-connected to the corresponding Emitter in the main room. Finally, a Pressure plate controls a set of two Blue doors that block off two pre-connected Connectors.

Solution

• 
  Take one of the Connectors and connect it to: the red Receiver and Emitter on the right, the pre-connected connector on the left and the blue Receiver on the left.
• 
  Take the other Connector and do a similar thing on the other side: blue Emitter and Receiver, right-side connector and red Receiver on the right.
• 
  Walk inside the main room through the red-side door and close the Switch.
• 
  Close the other Switch, on the blue side.
• 
  Walk on the Pressure plate. The pre-connected Connector opens the first Blue door. You can walk off the Pressure plate as the secondary red Emitter is also connected.
• 
  Position yourself in front of the red Emitter. By blocking the beam, this allows the blue Emitter to take over priority.
• 
  Walk on the Pressure plate so that the pre-connected Connector opens the second Blue door. Similarly to the red side, you can walk off the Pressure plate without the Blue door closing.
• 
  Position yourself in front of the blue Emitter. This will allow the red beams to take over.
• 
  Walk on the Pressure plate again to open the third Blue door.
• 
  Block the red Emitter one last time to let the blue beam take over.
• 
  Walk onto the Pressure plate to open the fourth and final Blue door.
