Because the Talos Principle games span thousands of years of history, there are several different kinds of characters present.

1. In the distant past, there were ancient humans, such as Alexandra Drennan and Trevor Donovan.
2. During the time of the first game, the simulation is populated by programs, such as Elohim, Athena, and Uriel.
3. During the time of the second game, there is a society of new humans, such as Athena (again) and 1k. Several other characters also populate the game.
