Hysteresis is a gold puzzle in Orpheus Ascending, part of the Road to Elysium expansion for The Talos Principle 2. It is only available after completing the seventeen main puzzles.

Overview

The puzzle room is composed of a main space where a pillar moves back and forth along a track. There are two sets of Emitters and Receivers on opposite corners of the rooms, as well as two Connectors.

Outside of the main room, a corridor with two Blue doors separates 1k from the Omega fragment. Mechanisms make it so that the first door will open when only the red Receiver is activated, whereas the second door requires only the blue Receiver to be activated.

Solution

• 
  Take one of the Connectors and connect the red Emitter and Receiver, as well as the blue Receiver. Place the connector down on the opposite side of the track.
• 
  Use the other Connector and do the same thing on the blue side: add the blue Emitter and both Receivers, and place it down on the opposite side of the track.
• 
  When cutting the blue beam, the pillar will give priority to the read beam, allowing the first Blue door to open. Walk through.
• 
  When the pillar cuts the red beam, the blue beam will take over, allowing the second Blue door to open.

Unintended solution

Using the Red laser to block the block the Blue one, arranging such that the red laser is in place to be moved away by the pillar. The red laser should be connected first being blocked by the pillar as it is moved. Timing is crucial the pillar will only give enough time for the blue gate to open for a second.
