Boot Sequence, referred to by Elohim as the Trials of Initiation, is the initial area of the game. It serves as a tutorial and a refresher of The Talos Principle.
The structure of this area is similar to the areas in the first game: solving a puzzle rewards you with a coloured tetromino that, in combination with the rest of the pieces of the same colour, can be used to solve a Tetromino Arranger. Solving an arranger grants you access to the following zone. The puzzle elements look and behave like the elements from the first game, with the exception of the jammer, that can disable fans.

QR Codes
As in the The Talos Principle, you will find in this area three QR Codes. They provide flavour text of the area or about the game in general. In the first game these messages were left by subjects of previous iterations in the Simulation or by other players. It’s unclear if these messages in the Boot Sequence are created by Elohim or if, at some point, all new humans after Athena went through the same boot process and saw the same messages.
