Vertical Locomotion is a lost puzzle in the Western Delta area of The Talos Principle 2.

Overview

To reach this puzzle, take the path to the left of Puzzle 5 and follow it to go behind the structure.

When you enter the puzzle, you find yourself in a long room. On the ground, there is a connector, a pressure plate, a fan, and a blue mover. Above the entrance door is a blue emitter. At the end of the long room is a second floor. There is a hole in the floor that is directly above the fan on the ground floor, which is blocked off with a blue door. On that floor, there is another pressure plate, a teleporter, and a blue door leading to another room behind it. That room has a pressure plate and leads to an elevated platform with two pressure plates on it, which give access to the progress wheel.

If you're having trouble getting started:

Try to figure out what each pressure plate does. There is a new mechanic in this puzzle, where the path of the mover continues on a different floor that has not been seen before.

If you reached the second floor but are struggling to make progress:

Make sure you have brought all the equipment from downstairs. Try to connect and disconnect the mover a few times from a few different angles until it reaches a favorable position.

If you pick up the connector in your hand, can you position yourself in some way so that the teleporter is visible?

Solution

  Step 1: Connect the mover to the blue emitter, and place the connector on the pressure plate to activate the fan.
• 
  Step 2: Step into the fan yourself, then teleport to the upper level.
• 
  Step 3: Place the teleporter close to the ledge so it is visible from downstairs.
• 
  Step 4: Jump down, grab the connector, and teleport back up.
• 
  Step 5: Activate the mover from the side until it passes the pressure plate.
• 
  Step 6: Move the connector onto the pressure plate, or just stand on it yourself so that the mover reaches the inner room, then disconnect. Keep the disconnected connector on the pressure plate.

  Step 7: Grab the teleporter and jump onto the mover, then jump onto the platform above. Place the teleporter on one of the pressure plates.
• 
  Step 8: Grab the connector, and while standing on the pressure plate, teleport up. Place the connector on the next pressure plate to open the final blue door.
