The First Companions is the collective name given to the first twelve new humans created after Athena, the first new human. Eustathius and Cornelius were activated by Athena (possibly into bodies created long ago by the IAN), and then the three of them worked together to create the next ten.

Two of the First Companions are deceased: Yemo died during the construction of New Jerusalem, and Sarabhai died in the New Alexandria disaster.

By the start of The Talos Principle 2, the First Companions are venerated by some citizens of New Jerusalem due to their advanced age and relation to the Founder.
