Preconnected is a lost puzzle in the Eastern Wetlands area of The Talos Principle 2.

Overview

To reach this puzzle, as you're going from Puzzle 7 to Puzzle 8, take the right turn when the path diverges.

When you enter the puzzle, you find yourself in a room with a grill barrier in the center that partly divides the room into the left and right parts. In the left part is a red emitter, and a drillable wall with the second room. There is already an active hole in the wall, and an inverter is reachable through it on the other side. On the right side is a pressure plate in front of a blue door and another large drillable wall into the third room.

In the second room, we see a blue receiver looking back next to the blue door with the first room. There is a red receiver that controls access to the progress wheel on the left. The driller that kept the hole active is in the center of the room. On the right side are two rooms. The first is blocked off by a blue door, and has an inverter sitting on a pressure plate. The second is separated by a purple barrier, and leads to the area behind the large drillable wall from the outer room.

Since the name of the puzzle is Preconnected, at some point in the puzzle, you have to pre-connect one of the puzzle pieces and set it down, and then activate it later.

If you're having trouble getting started:

The first task is to move the inverter to the second room while the driller is in the first room.

If you're unable to keep the outer blue door open:

Consider if it is possible to set up the puzzle in such a way that you allow the door to temporarily close in order to allow a more permanent solution to emerge.

If you're wondering what the point of the large drillable wall to the right of the starting area is:

You need it for the second stage of the puzzle, once you have access to the second inverter.

If you're struggling to get access to the second inverter:

You need the first inverter to solve two problems at the same time. You need the driller to help it, but not until the inverter is already in position.

If you got access to the second inverter, but don't have laser of the right color:

Small changes will not suffice, throw away everything you have in the puzzle and start afresh.

Solution

• 
  Take the inverter from the other side of the hole and place it down on the pressure plate
• 
  Take the driller and place it on the pressure plate, instead of the inverter.
• 
  Connect the inverter to the red emitter and both blue receivers, and place it down in the main area, behind the bronze wall.
• 
  Take the driller and drill the wall to let the red laser through.
• 
  Grab the second inverter and take it outside of its cell.
• 
  Take the driller again and drill the wall on the far right while placing it on the pressure plate.
• 
  Take the second inverter and connect it to the red emitter through the drilled wall.
• 
  Take the first inverter and use it to connect the blue inverter to the red receiver by the Progress Wheel.
