Refraction is the fourth main puzzle in the Eastern Wetlands area of The Talos Principle 2.

Overview

As you enter the main playing area, you find one inverter in the middle, and a red receiver in front of you giving access to a back area. To the left, you find a blue receiver that gives access to a room with a red emitter in it, and on the back wall on the right side is a blue emitter. In the right side room, you find another inverter, then a purple barrier and then yet another inverter. Next to the last inverter is a blue receiver that gives access to the progress wheel.

The name of the puzzle here does not help much. Just remember that to make something self-sufficient, you often have to perform a bit of setup before you place the equipment down.

Your first job is to obtain the second inverter. Also, it is impossible to move the third inverter across the purple barrier

If you're struggling with the color of the lasers:

Try to use only the red emitter. How can you keep the blue door open using only that? How would you set that up?

Solution

  Use the Inverter to open the door with the red Receiver.
• 
  Take the second Inverter and connect it to the first Inverter, the red Emitter and the blue Receiver.
• 
  Take the first Inverter and connect it to the blue Inverter and the red Receiver.
• 
  Use the last Inverter to connect the red Inverter to the blue Receiver by the Progress Wheel.
