Puzzle elements

Overview

When you enter the puzzle, you find yourself in the first room in a puzzle made with a lot of elements.

  • In the first room, there is a horizontal fan, a blue emitter, and a blue activator. There is a window that looks into Room 3, and a blue door that opens to Room 2.
  • Room 2 is empty. It connects to Room 1 through the blue door, and it loops around to the back of Room 3. You can enter Room 3 from here via either a purple barrier or a blue door. Opposite the entrance to the third room is the blue door to the fourth room.
  • Room 3 has a red activator and a hexahedron.
  • Room 4 has a pressure plate that can open the blue door to Room 2, and a vertical fan. Next to the fan, at a considerable height, is the progress wheel.

Hints

A basic hint:

[ hint ]
Since the name of the puzzle is Ascent, one of the questions you have to consider in this puzzle is how to gain enough altitude to climb onto the progress wheel's tower. Just the fan is probably not going to be enough.

If you're struggling to get started:

[ hint ]
The first objective is to bring the hexahedron to the first room.

If your equipment is slipping off:

[ hint ]
Keeping the equipment on top of a hexahedron keeps them stable and reduces friction when they move.

If you're not sure what to do with the red activator:

[ hint ]
There is no red emitter. So the activator can only be activated by another activator.

If you're unable to get enough elevation:

[ hint ]
First, make sure all your equipment is in the fourth room, and this includes every single piece. Then think about setting up your equipment in a favorable way, then activating it once you're in position.

An explicit guide about the ending of the puzzle:

[ hint ]
Use the blue activator to hold the blue door open, so you don't need the pressure plate anymore. However, don't activate the fan. While the fan is inactive, position the hexahedron on the fan, climb it with the red activator in your hands, and place the red activator within the blue one's bubble. This should activate the fan and push you up to a high enough elevation.
