If you're unable to get the correct angles:

In many puzzles, a connector has to pull double duty, pressing down on a pressure plate as well as propagating light. Here the angles are too tight for the connector to pull double duty.
If you're not sure which parts the recorded version of you should be handling:

Logically, the beginning parts of the puzzle are most easily accessible to the recorded version, so it makes sense to set that up, and leave the later parts to the real version.
Solution
A fully explained sequence of actions:

Start the recorder, and open the right blue door using the hexahedron. Attach the connector to the blue emitter, and place it far enough in the second room so that it can be seen from the window. Come back and stand on the pressure plate to expose the emitter. Using the real hexahedron, open the door to the inner room. Grab the real connector, carry it into the inner room, and connect the receiver through the window to the recorded connector outside.
