Buzzers are floating spheres from The Talos Principle that do not chase the player. They usually move along a set path. Unlike guards, they do not fly directly at player or explode even when the player is in close proximity. However, repeatedly colliding with a buzzer can damage the player enough to cause a reset.
In most of their appearances, the role of a buzzer in a puzzle is to temporarily block a laser, preventing the connection between an emitter and receiver from lasting long enough to active the receiver.
